Happy Birthday, Canada!

Every fourth of July, America celebrates it’s independence. Today, Canada celebrates theirs with “Canada Day”!

Canada Day is the national holiday of Canada, celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the Constitution Act. The Constitution Act united Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada into a single country. Originally called Dominion Day, the name was changed in 1982-the year that Canada gained full independence from the United Kingdom. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada, as well as internationally.

Most communities across Canada will host celebrations for Canada Day. Free concerts, parades, carnivals, festivals, barbecues, air shows and fireworks are all part of the Canada Day festivities. Sounds much like the celebration America has for July 4th!

Happy Birthday, Canada!

Canadian National Anthem

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
